Studs
Full
Thread Studs
Full thread studs are made by cutting all thread rod
to length or roll-threading pitch diameter cut blanks.
One important consideration in ordering full thread
studs is specifying the length. There are two standards.
One is measuring the overall length of the part. The
other is measuring from the first full-form useable
thread on one end to the first full thread on the
other.

Double
End Studs
Double end studs have threads on both ends of the same
thread fit class. This is usually class 2A, or if looser
tolerances are allowed, commercial nut fit. The body,
the area between the threads, may be either equal to
the nominal major diameter of the threads or equal to
the pitch diameter.

Tap
End Studs
Tap end studs have threads of different classes on each
end. Usually the end with more thread has a class 2A
thread and is designed to accept a nut.

All
Thread Rod Studs
All thread rod is available in different lengths depending
on the material. For basic stainless such as 18-8 (304,
ASTM A194 B8) or 316 (ASTM A194 B8M) 6' and 12' lengths
are standard. On most other non ferrous materials, the
lengths will vary. The mills that produce round bar
in these materials usually ship variable lengths ranging
from 10' to 20'. Additionally, in the cut threading
process, a few inches of thread is lost because it is
needed to grip onto the bar. Lengths in our inventory
will vary and some pieces may have a butt-end.
